The decision

The New Hotel Athens is one of the best and most high-quality options for accommodation in Athens. It is located in the heart of the capital, just 5 minutes away from Syntagma Square and the homonymous metro station. Its excellent location provides easy access to the most important attractions of the city with the Parliament, Ermou Street, Plaka and the National Garden being only 5 minutes away. The neighborhood is safe and hosts a lot of cafés, banks, clothing stores, restaurants/fast food shops and more.The warm welcome and smiling faces of the staff, in combination with the goodies that awaited us in the room, marked the beginning of a wonderful stay in Athens!

The New Hotel

The 5-star hotel on 16 Filellinon Street is a design masterpiece by the famous Campana brothers. All of its areas are clean and offer free Wifi access. The reception is open 24/7 and it is equivalent of the ones at large, international hotel chains, while the multilingual staff does everything for you to feel comfortable.The hotel has left luggage service, free daily press, laptop provision, an area with PCs and a conference room. In its underground area you will find exercise and wellness facilities, with an organized gym, Jacuzzi and the sauna that is open 24/7. Finally, you can relax with one of the many massage programs offered.

? Interesting features

a) For the construction of many of its furniture, light fixtures, tables and decorative items, they used furniture from the old hotel, the Olympic Palace Hotel. b) You will not find the rest of the furniture sold in the market, as they were created exclusively for the New Hotel. c) The walls are covered with tree barks (!), while the odd asymmetry of furniture and mirrors blends harmoniously with the space. d) It hosts well-known pieces of contemporary art, which belong to the world famous collector Dakis Joannou.

Restaurants / bar

On the ground floor, there is the New Taste restaurant, where our days would start with an amazing breakfast. It is also the place that birthed the practice of Brunch in the city! All the dishes that are served are of impeccable quality, while what stand out among the breakfast foods are the cakes, croissants and other delicacies that are prepared early in the morning by the hotel’s pastry chef. The New Taste is a delightfully decorated space, also ideal for an evening drink!On the 7th floor of the New Hotel we find the Art Lounge, a large and bright space, which offers excellent cocktails, tasty Mediterranean dishes and a gorgeous panoramic view of Athens. During the spring and summer months you can enjoy your drink on its beautiful terrace. There you will also find a mini library with rare editions and works of contemporary art.

The rooms

The New Hotel has 79 bright and smartly designed rooms, with its décor being in total sync with the hotel’s overall aesthetic. The rooms are comfy, clean and totally functional, while they also include conveniences that will make your life easier. The wooden floor in combination with the artistic decoration and cozy, double beds made us feel relaxed and at home, from the very first moment.Among the room’s many amenities, the ones that stand out are the shade blinds, mini bar, free brand beauty products, safe box and the lovely balcony. The bathroom is impressive both in design and functionality, while it has a brass sink. Also, the frequency of sheets and bathroom towels changing should be included in the list of positive aspects, as well as the cleaning service, which is visiting 2-3 times a day.
