Finding accommodations in Zagorochoria is a pleasant and easy business. Each one of the complex’s 47 villages offers a fine and pleasant stay, with their common trait being the traditional architecture and décor. The choice for the perfect accommodation is based on the location, the amenities and the room’s size. During high season, prices start at 40€ and can go as high as 150€ per night (30-40% lower during the rest of the year.) You should also know that many of them remain closed during the summer, due to low visitor traffic.

“Choose the right combination and surrender yourself to nature’s peacefulness.”

Where to stay in Athens

Athens is undoubtedly the most tourist-friendly destination in Greece. The capital welcomes over 5 million tourists every year, a number that is progressively increasing. Accommodation in Athens is something that will not be a bother, as you will find hotels for every taste in reasonable prices.

In the city there are more than 2,000 hotels, hostels, Airbnb apartments and houses, while the average price per night is at 80-100€ (during high season). Most hotels are of good quality and offer breakfast, without any extra charge, while many of the Airbnb houses are renovated with substantial amenities. Athens can satisfy every budget, with luxury apartments (starting at 300€/night), as well as the quality hotel rooms of 3-4-5 stars (starting at 60€/night). The capital follows the paradigm of Greek hospitality and welcomes you with a warm bed and a wide smile. Have a nice stay!

The North’s capital is an upcoming tourist force, as more and more people are visiting it, while at the same time it is the most popular stop & go destination in Greece. Accommodation in the city is an easy business, with dozens of hotels and Airbnb apartments offering pleasant and warm hospitality. Most accommodation sites are well-maintained and located close or inside the city center. Prices are normal, with the average cost per night being around 70-80€ (for a double room with breakfast). Avoid the sites located in the areas of Kassandrou, Olympiados and Hagios Demetrios’ Streets, as they are not safe enough at night.

The best hotels in Santorini

Hotels Santorini

Accommodation in Santorini is definitely something that will concern you a great deal, as prices in (almost) all accommodation sites are sky high!

But let’s take things from the start…The cosmopolitan island has undergone a giant reconstruction process in the last decade (mainly hotels and rooms to rent), which has “covered” 18% (!) of the island’s surface. This, of course, has been affected by the IMMENSE demand, which has prolonged the holiday season into 7+ full months. The season starts from Easter and is completed in early November with occupancy being as high as 100%, during most months! So, with such high demand it is logical that hotels in Santorini have increased their prices.

If your budget is limited, you will have to visit the island in mid-April, when the prices at Santorini’s hotels are significantly lower. Prefer to stay at a traditional undercut site, which is pretty cool and offers Cycladic atmosphere with modern/island décor.

Mini tips: a) Accommodation sites in Santorini are too many, if you consider they are more than 1.000(!) (as many as the whole of Thessaloniki has)! b) The average price per night ranges between 130 and 160€, but of course not at the Caldera. There, it is up to 14 times higher…! c) There are accommodation sites where each overnight stay costs 2.000-3.000€! d) The unapproachable for the Greek public prices have established the island as a hot destination for foreign tourists (90%-10% ratio).

These are the best hotels in Santorini

Best hotels in the Peloponnese

Accommodation in the Peloponnese is a pleasant experience, as you will find dozens of options. From rooms/houses right by the sea or a lake, to others holed up inside a mountain or pinned on slopes, the Peloponnese will offer you wonderful accommodation experiences. Prices, of course, vary from town to town, as the dynamic is different for example at Limeni in Mani, compared to Vytina in Arcadia. You should also not forget that for some destinations, high season is considered to be in the summer (Mani, Methoni, Kakovatos, Leonidio and more), while for others it is winter (Kalavryta, villages of mountainous Arcadia, Lagkadia and more).

Hotels in the Peloponnese are pretty well-kept and, apart from decoration and style, they also focus heavily on the customer service. But what steals the show in most of these is the breakfast, as it consists of products from the fertile land of the Peloponnese. Finally, for a double room you will have to pay 80€ to 120€ including breakfast (high season).

Check out the best hotels in the Peloponnese

Chania is one of the best and most popular destinations in Greece. From this alone, it is understandable that prices in hotels are quite high, resulting in quality and price many times not corresponding. The number of choices is big (500 accommodation sites), but if you want a quality stay you should not be sparing, as the average price for a descent double room is 90-130€ / night, during high season. If you choose to visit it in a season other than summer, then prices will be reduced by 20-70%. Prefer a hotel inside the city and not at nearby places like Platanias, Agia Marina etc., as –especially in the summer months- you will suffer from the traffic and gridlocks.

After a research, we decided on three notable hotels, which we present to you…

Papaevangelou Hotel: Papigo

Mr. Papaevangelou’s inn is an excellent choice of accommodation in Zagorochoria. It stands in Papigo, in a delightful location, where the real stars are Astraka’s towers and the surrounding natural landscape.

The inn provides 10 rooms, with a capacity to host two to six people. The rooms are comfortable, bright, have a TV, wifi, a fridge, toiletries, a hair-dryer and a breath-taking view of the mountain. Some of them are equipped with a fireplace and a kitchen, attending to every need of a family or company. The room’s decoration is unique, with pretty, traditional touches and refined taste. Every bathroom is spacious, with a different style and architecture. What is really impressive is the cleanliness of the rooms, as well as the other spaces, which is better than the one you might find in a 5-star hotel!

Their breakfast is exquisite, with local products and hand-made, home marmalades, cakes, pies, rice pudding, kneaded bread, other delicious recipes and more. Because of the owner’s kindness, attentiveness and friendly attitude, staying at the Papaevangelou Hotel is a really pleasant experience that will leave you with the best of impressions. The only downside is the faint wifi signal in the rooms and the difficulty to reach it, if there is snow.

Prices range between 70 and 140€ per night, and they are perfectly representative of everything the inn provides. Having as a basic prerequisite the satisfaction of every visitor, makes it one of the most anthropocentric accommodations that we have ever visited. It will certainly be our first choice for our future visit to Zagorochoria. Highly Recommended (H)

New Hotel

The New Hotel is one of the best and of high quality options for accommodation in Athens. It is located in the heart of the capital, just 5 minutes away from the Syntagma Square and the homonymous metro station. Its excellent location provides easy access to the most important attractions of the city, with the Parliament, the Ermou Square, Plaka and the National Garden being just 5 minutes away. The neighborhood is very safe and houses lots of cafés, banks, clothing stores, restaurants/fast food shops and more.

The 5-star hotel is a design masterpiece of the famous Campana brothers. All its areas are clean and have free wifi access, while the multilingual staff is very friendly and attentive. The New Hotel has a left luggage service, free computers, an impeccably designed workout area, Jacuzzi and sauna that are open 24/7. The hotel at 16 Filellinon Street has yet another novelty under its sleeve, as many of the pieces of furniture and decorations are made from wood taken from the furniture of the old hotel, the Olympic Palace Hotel.

The New Hotel has 79 bright and stylish rooms. The rooms are comfy, clean and totally functional, while they also include conveniences that will make your life easier. The wooden floor in combination with the artistic decoration and the wonderful, double beds will instantly immerse you in its hospitable and warm atmosphere. The rooms’ décor is elegant and in total harmony with the hotel’s overall style. Among its many amenities the ones that stand out the most are the shade blinds, mini bar, free brand beauty products and the safe box. The bathroom is impressive both in design and functionality, while it has a brass sink. Also, the frequency of sheets and bathroom towels changing should be included in the list of positive aspects, while we should highlight that cleanliness of the room is excellent, with the cleaning service visiting 2-3 times a day.

The price per night is at 205€, which is fully representative of everything that the New Hotel offers. Do not miss out on trying its amazing breakfast, which is based on organic and fresh products from the Mediterranean. And as far as drinks are concerned, visit the Art Lounge on the 7th floor of the New Hotel, which provides a panoramic view of Athens. Highly Recommended (H)

Colors Hotel

Many neo-classical buildings in the city center have been renovated and turned into exquisite accommodation sites, with style and finesse having the first word. One of these buildings is the urban Colors Hotel, located on the city’s most central street, Tsimiski. Being on such a central spot, it works as a springboard for most of Thessaloniki’s attractions, while being just 3 minutes away from Aristotelous Square and 10 minutes from the White Tower. It stands out for its modern and youthful character, with the appropriate thematic and chromatic combinations completely justifying its name!

All of the hotel’s spaces are clean, with pleasant smells emerging from every corner. Colors’ friendly visage is also reflected through its staff, who are willing to help and give out any information, always with a smile. Also, the hotel provides a luggage storage space, a massage room and the well-known Garden bar.

No matter how many times you stay there, you are not going to get tired of it, as every room has a different theme/décor. But, the rooms, apart from the charming style, also have mini bars, satellite TV, bathroom amenities, hair-dryers, safes and autonomous heating/cooling systems. Their interior space is so pleasant and warm that it will be hard to say goodbye to it. We should also note that all rooms are spacious, while most of them offer a nice view of the neighborhood. Only a few of them, though, have a view of the hotel’s inner courtyard (!).

The hotel’s scarce disadvantages include the bad sound-proofing and the lack of parking space. (As far as the sound-proofing is concerned, the hotel bears no responsibility, as it is prohibited to intervene in a neo-classical building’s structure.)
The cost of accommodation reaches up to 80-90€ per night (with a great breakfast), which makes it one of the best VFM (value for money) options in the city. The hotel is recommended for business purposes, as well as for pleasure. Highly Recommended (H)

Tip: Ask to stay at the amazing room with the graffiti (No 35). You are going to fall in love with it…!

Kinsterna Hotel (Monemvasia)

Having received dozens of international awards, the Kinsterna Hotel is undoubtedly the most high-quality option for accommodation in the Peloponnese. As a matter of fact, the byzantine mansion is all on its own a very good reason to visit the area. The scenery is ideally completed by the quiet, fresh air and smells of nature. It may be 7km (5 minutes by car) away from the rock of Monemvasia, but it offers direct eye contact to it, as it is located on the hill of Ayios Stephanos.

All of its areas are clean and beautifully decorated, while the staff is very attentive and, at the same time, discreet. The 24-hours room service, laptop/tablet provision service, free parking and left-luggage service are only a few of the amenities we find at the site. The five-star mansion is full of activities, which will bring you closer to nature. The two pools and wellness center will make you relax, while the children will be playing at the indoor or outdoor playgrounds or they will be taking a walk around the fenced animal farm. At the premises you will also find a gym, hair salon, library, wine cellar and a shop with traditional products.

All of the rooms are bright, clean and functional, while they have plenty of amenities. Some of them are the safe, mini bar, autonomous air-conditioning, fast wifi connection, work desk and more. In most rooms we find a fireplace and balcony with a view of the estate or the Aegean Sea. The bathroom of each room is spacious and very clean, while it has a shower and WC, luxury beauty products, hair-dryer and scales.

No two rooms have the same design, yet they all have something in common…the sophisticated Boutique aesthetic. The combination of the old with the contemporary, the comfort and approachable luxury of the rooms are only a few of the reasons that will make you not want to say goodbye to it!

Samaria Hotel

The Samaria Hotel is located just outside the old town, at a distance of only 6 minutes from the old harbor. Its excellent location offers comfortable and fast transportation on foot, to the old town, the harbor and lots of other places. The feeling we experienced when we got to it was unique, as it is very organized and away from the models of the Greek hotels.

The Samaria Hotel is housed in a newly-renovated building with a charming exterior design, and functional indoor areas, which are spotless and decorated with taste and luxury. It has a conference room, a gym, an outdoor pool, a working area with internet access and a bar. The staff is very friendly, attentive and they make you feel great from the very first moment, offering a mix of Cretan hospitality and European organization. The hotel is an accessible luxury for everyone, as the price for one night ranges between 80 and 120€. Also, they provide the capability to leave your car in the parking lot, at a small cost.

Its rooms are quite spacious and clean, with modern décor –here as well- as a reference point. They have comfortable beds and soft, designer mattresses and pillows, which will allow you to rest for many hours. Cleanliness and amenities are at the highest possible level, while, in a room that always shines, you will find a big TV with satellite & subscription channels, a nespresso coffee maker, wooden floors, free wifi, a safe box, a blow-dryer, fridge with a safety lock (and key) and a comfortable working space. What impresses is its marble bathroom, which is pretty spacious, clean and has designer beauty products. Its last great advantage is the excellent sound-proofing that does not allow the intrusion of noise neither from the street, nor from the neighboring rooms. Finally, the only disadvantage is the lack of view..

For three nights we paid the amount of 425€, during super high season. The price includes the delicious breakfast which is another pleasant surprise, as both variety and flavors leave no-one dissatisfied. The hotel could be a 5-star (instead of 4) as it meets most of the requirements. The only thing missing is the spa facilities. For us, it is the best there is in the city and one of the best that we have ever visited…On a future visit, it will definitely be our first choice!   Highly Recommended (H)

Royal Sun Hotel

The Royal Sun Hotel is the best choice for accommodation outside of the city. With its quality-price ratio being at the highest level, the hotel offers what 70% of the visitors in Chania ask for…Affordable-Quality stay with plenty of benefits. It is 4km away from the old town, which makes transportation on foot impossible. For this reason, they have a transportation van which goes to the city and back regularly (every 30’). However, at night the only means of transportation available is the taxi.

The Royal Sun Hotel is built on a hill and offers a beautiful view of the city, as well as the Sea of Crete. It has a large and clean pool, a small-unorganized gym, a restaurant, a lounge bar, a patio and garden. All of the hotel’s areas are clean and the staff is willing to help you, showcasing the Cretan hospitality in the best possible way. The hotel also has free parking.

The rooms are divided in three categories (with no view, with view at the garden, with view at the sea). In all of them, wooden elements and modern décor prevail. The amenities of every room are satellite TV, blow-dryer, air conditioning, big balcony, safe box, beauty products, fridge and free wifi. The space is good in size and quite bright, unlike the bathroom, which is impractical, as you cannot even move inside the bathtub. Finally, it is worth mentioning that quiet is a great advantage of the Royal Sun Hotel, as it is located away from the bustling cobbled streets of the old town. Choose a room with a view at the sea to enjoy the magical sunset that dresses in color the city of Chania.

Its disadvantages are the lack of a pool bar, the irregular change of sheers and the tight-unclean bathroom of the rooms. It is recommended ONLY to those who have a car.

For one night we paid 70€ in super high season, with breakfast. The variety and tastes of the breakfast might not exactly be thrilling, but the view steps in to fill this void. The excellent quality/price ratio, as well as its magnificent view, establish it as a very good choice for accommodation in Chania. It will be high on our list on a future visit.. Recommended (R)

Zagori Suites: Vitsa

The Zagori Suites is located in the village of Vitsa (central Zagori) and it is a very good choice for anyone that is interested in visiting the scenic Zagorochoria. It is a room complex of traditional style, dressed in wood and stone both on its exterior and inside the rooms. All of the hotel’s spaces are very clean, neat and tastefully decorated.

The two-person room is quite spacious and polished . Its wooden floors, dressed with carpets, and anatomic mattresses offer a “homely” warmth and comfort that makes it really hard to say goodbye! The bathroom is large, clean and includes a spa bath with hot water throughout the whole day. Furthermore, every room has its own fireplace, with plenty of logs. Finally its benefits include satellite TV, wifi, toiletries and a hair-dryer.

Another trait that steals the show is their delicious breakfast with hand-made pies, fresh eggs, home-made jams and traditional products from the regional land, a kind of breakfast that is hard to find these days. Also, the view and the hotel’s location are pretty good, with the only downside being the rubble that lies around in front of it (the hotel is not responsible for it). Finally, something that is worth noting is the owners’ kindness and attentiveness, as well as the staff’s, with Alice leaving the best of impressions.

For three nights, we paid around 290€, a price that is fairly reasonable for everything the hotel offers (although a little steep). Recommended (R)

Electra Metropolis Athens

The Electra Metropolis is one of the best, if not the best hotel in Athens. The 5-star hotel is located in the heart of the city, just 200 meters away from the Syntagma Square and the homonymous metro station. Near it you will find lots of restaurants, bars and shops, as well as some of the most important attractions and neighborhoods of the city (Plaka, the Parliament, Psyrri, the Parthenon, Theseion, Monastiraki).

The Electra Metropolis has all the elements that make a hotel stand out. Among them are the spa facilities, the areas’ cleanliness, wonderful design and excellent staff service. The hotel also has a conference room, outdoor pool and gym, while on the terrace of the top floor you can enjoy your coffee, drink or meal, along with the best view in the city. You can also relax in the alfresco lounge bar or have a casual meal in the charming Library bistro. Finally, we should note that there is free wifi access in all areas of the hotel and, of course, inside the rooms.

The rooms and suites of the Electra Metropolis are the main reason to relax and escape the stress of the city. The wooden floor and warm colors and the impressive marble bathroom will instantly make you feel at home, while the comfy bed will offer you moments of relaxation. Among the many amenities of the rooms the ones that stand out are the organic brand beauty products, the large TV with satellite channels, safe box and mini bar. All the rooms and suites have sublime design, are as clean as anything can be and have a work desk and great wifi signal.

The average price per night is 160€, which is totally reasonable for the quality, benefits and location of the Electra Metropolis. The price includes a heavenly and fresh breakfast. Recommended (R)

Escape in Style Gate 305 (Airbnb)

Ioanna and Michalis’ apartment is located in the heart of the city, just 1 minute away from Aristotelous Square, Tsimiski Street and the seafront! Because of its location, it is the perfect springboard for meeting Thessaloniki and gathering the most beautiful moments. In the neighborhood, you will find some of the best cafés and bistros in the city, supermarkets, pharmacies, shopping stores, while across the street there is a parking lot for your car. Furthermore, within a distance of only a few meters, you will find the “Aristotelous” bus stop, so you can move easily in the city. Although the apartment building is not in the greatest shape, this is of little importance, as you will spend hardly any time in its common spaces. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the neighborhood’s safety is very high, as it is busy 24/7.

The renovated apartment is very bright, with design and functionalism being the two words that describe it best. The apartment has a small living-dining room with a kitchen, a small but charming bathroom, and a resting area with earthly colors and modern details. The photographs on the website depict perfectly the cozy apartment, while the benefits may be even better than the ones mentioned. On the building’s 1st floor there is a cafeteria for snacks and beverages, which can come to your door with just one phone call (low prices). The apartment may not have a balcony, but from one of its sides it gives you the chance to admire the Thermaikos Bay. Concluding our description, we must highlight two more things. The first one is that the space is clean and ideal for two persons (30 m²) and the second one is that the owners are exceptionally polite and give solutions to any problem that may come up.

In the downsides, we would only include the noise from the cafés and the pizza place during the evening hours, about which, of course, the owners bear no responsibility.

The price for every night is around 50€, a fact that brings it at the top spots of accommodations in the city, and establishes it as one of the best accommodation options in the value-for-money category. Highly Recommended (H)

San Giorgio (Fira)

San Giorgio is located in a small street just 100m away from the center of Fira. Next to it you will find one of the central (free) parking facilities of the island to park your vehicle. Access to the cobbled streets of the town as well as to Oia is very easy and quick, while the area around it, although noisy, is full of super markets, restaurants, fast food shops and shopping stores that will make your life easier.

The newly-constructed San Giorgio Villa has pleasant and very attentive staff, who are ready to help you with whatever you may need, even with booking a tour or renting a vehicle. In the common area you will find a small lounge, library and pool (which is 20 meters away), while it has left luggage space for any amount of time is needed. It is also significant that it offers free transport from and to the airport and the port of Santorini.

The 11 rooms of San Giorgio do not lack in elegance and beauty compared to the ones located on the Caldera. Their only “disadvantage” is that they don’t offer a view! But this does not concern those that look for quality accommodation in quite reasonable prices. All rooms are spacious, functional and have pretty decoration. Among the amenities, the ones that stand out are the air-conditioning, fridge, comfortable double bed, free wi-fi connection, closet and more.

Its bathroom is incorporated in the rest of the space and it has light rain showerhead and free care products. Finally, we should emphasize that the cleaning service comes by at least once a day, the towels and sheets are changed often, while breakfast is not offered.

The cost per night during high season starts at 150€, a price that, in combination with the modern aesthetic and its amenities, establish it as one of the most VFM options in Santorini.

It provides the visitor with the necessary quiet, while it offers them quality accommodation in one of its suites or apartments. The town center is just 10 minutes away on foot, while the hotel is a starting point for hiking trails to the caves of Diros, Limeni and more.

The Pappoudiko hotel is consisted of autonomous buildings that are inter-connected. Renovated in a way that does not alter their identity or splendor, the buildings are an example of Maniot architecture. The staff is very polite and willing to help you with anything you need. Finally, it is worth mentioning that there are free parking spaces.

Among the suites and apartments, there are two buildings that stand out at Pappoudiko. The first one is the “Megalithic”, a separate house built of massive stones, “merely” 1,000 years old! The second one is the four-lever war-tower, said to be one of the tallest ones in Mani. All buildings offer luxury accommodation, thanks to their indoor arrangement and decoration. Buildings that are cool, with amazing view and dozens of amenities, such as a small kitchen, coffee/tea machine, TV, work desk, hair-dryer, free beauty products and more. Agroktima Traditional Guesthouse (Leonidio)

The Agroktima Traditional Guesthouse is located in Leonidio, the “capital” of the Tsakonian land. Its autonomous stone-built apartments are stretched across an open area, beneath the shadow of the Red Rock. The farm is only four minutes away by car from the center of the village and stands out for its quiet and beauty of nature.

The staff is very polite and willing to help you at any moment, while cleanliness in all areas is the owners’ primary concern. In the very large garden you will find a playground and bikes, while the farm is at the back! Also, it is worth noting that in the facilities there is free parking space.

Its two-storey apartments are comfy, clean, bright, cool in the summer and warm in the winter (with the assistance of the fireplace), and very functional. The hand-made furniture, lace curtains, wooden roof and wooden windows complete the traditional décor. Among the plenty of amenities of the apartments we find free wifi, fridge, complete kitchen, hair-dryer, clothes iron, flat TV, fireplace, air-conditioning, work desk, large balcony and free beauty products.

And you still don’t know the most important thing! A basket full with amazing, local, organic delicacies will be hanging outside your door every morning, so that you start your day with taste and strength.

Pyrreion Hotel: Ano Pedina

Pyrreion Hotel is located in the village of Ano Pedina and is a springboard for most of the area’s attractions. Access to it is really easy, as it is located in Zagori’s center.

It is a newly constructed building, with the stone element being dominant in every spot. At the entrance the two large spaces, the lounge and dining room, are high-ceilinged and decorated with traditional items and products. Mrs. Helen will greet you there, offering home-made delicacies, before showing you to your room.

The double room is not spacious enough, as the bed takes up most of the space. Nonetheless, its anatomic mattress offers a high quality sleep, so you can recharge your batteries, after a tiring day of exploring the area. In the room you will find a hair-dryer, wifi, toiletries, a safe, a minibar, TV, small working desk, mirror and a telephone extension. The owners’ service and kindness are great, as well as the breakfast, with the hostess’ rocking, fresh, home-made jams!

Apart from the rooms’ limited space, the hotel has a few more cons, like the fact that there is no parking lot, the mould in the bathroom (which is odd for a new building) and the so-so quality/price ratio. The average price per night is 90-100€, including breakfast. Good Choice (G)

Aerino Villa (Firostefani)

The small Aerino Villa guesthouse steals the impressions from the very first moment. It is located in one of the best areas in Santorini, Firostefani. From the villa you will have view of Fira, Imerovigli, the volcano, Therasia, as well as the endless blue of the Aegean. Close to the guesthouse you will find plenty of stores with food, drinks and souvenirs, as well as the settlement’s central cobbled street, which leads to the Three Bells of Fira. Also, in close distance you can find a free public parking area.

The Aerino Villa guesthouse has exactly everything you have imagined of Santorini. Endless view, beautiful Cycladic décor and comfy rooms. The managers of the Villa are pleasant and willing to help you with anything you may need. In its common area you will find a hot tub, outdoor lounge and tables with a view at the caldera. Also, there is transport service from/to the airport and the port, upon extra charge. Its biggest advantage is the quality/location/price ratio, which is pretty good for the standards of Santorini. Finally, you should know that from its balcony you can enjoy Santorini’s famous sunset (view that is equal and even better than the one in Oia).

Its three rooms are spacious and very bright, while they sport Cycladic architecture and bright colors. The interior decoration is minimal, with plain and pretty elements and it offers plenty of amenities, including comfortable beds and Cocomat mattresses, a fridge, free Wi-Fi, hand-made furniture and flat screen satellite TV. In its bathroom you will find free care products, light rain showerhead and bathrobes. But what steals the show in the room is the unobstructed view of the Aegean, a view that captivates and enchants you.

The cost per night in high season starts at 150€, a price that includes amazing breakfast in the room with a view of the Aegean Sea!

The hotel provides easy access to Lycabettus (3 minutes away from the cable car), the Benaki Museum, the Parliament, the Opera and many points of interest.

The 4-star boutique hotel has 22 rooms with minimal decoration and modern amenities. Its newly renovated interior space exudes subtle luxury, which in combination with the earthly colors and furniture create a sense of effortlessness and serenity. In the common areas, you will see artworks having the periscope as their theme, which is where the hotel owes its name. In the Periscope lounge guests can enjoy free drinks, snacks and fruit, all day long. The hotel also has a conference room, while all areas have free wifi access. Furthermore, it provides the opportunity to work out for free at the Holmes Place, one of the most modern gyms in the city. The Periscope has 22 rooms and suites that offer a pleasant stay. The spaces are roomy, with the wooden floors and amazing beds granting warmth and comfort. The Caravan

The Caravan hotel is located in the city center, just 10 minutes away from Aristotelous Square. It is housed in a newly-conserved building behind the Hamza Bey Mosque (Venizelou Street) and in its interior spaces they have managed to combine the old, the ethnic and the modern elements, characteristics that result in a unique style. All of the hotel’s spaces are filled with pleasant smells, while both the owners and the young staff are willing to attend to your needs and provide you with any piece of information. On the ground floor you will find two rooms with extraordinary decoration to enjoy your coffee, relax or play one of the board games that they keep.

Leaving the common spaces, we go up to the rooms, which are high-ceilinged, spacious and clean, with satisfying benefits, considering its 3 stars. A few of said benefits are the safe, fridge, water boiler and beauty products. The beds are comfortable and suitable for many hours of rest, while in the colorful the bathroom you will find hot water any time of day. Finally, it is worth noting that many rooms have a view of the beautiful Hamza Bey Mosque.

Some of the very few disadvantages are the lack of parking space and work desk, as well as the mediocre breakfast. It could also be considered as a disadvantage the fact that the front desk, as well as the ground floor spaces close during the evening hours (after 22:00).

The cost of accommodation reaches up to 65-85€ per night (including breakfast), which makes it a good choice, for the quality stay that it offers. The hotel might look like a hostel (on the ground floor), but it operates with the philosophy of a well organized hotel. Recommended (R)

Tip: Book the deluxe double room with the number 30.

Vilelmine

The Vilelmine Hotel is located in the heart of the old town in just a 2-minute distance from the harbor. The narrow cobbled street (Betolo Street) in front of the hotel hosts dozens of tourist shops and has a vivid Cretan –tourist- atmosphere, while the view of the narrow alleys and Mitropoleos Square will quickly get you in the city’s attitude. It is understandable that if you have a car, you should park it outside of the old town and get to the hotel on foot (8-10 minutes).

The hotel is housed in a restored villa of the 19th century, with its interior space being clean, and pleasant smells welling up from every corner. The listed building is well-maintained, dressed with colorful touches and a strong Venetian feel. And as for the owners, they always wear a smile on their faces, ready to help you in anything you need.

The rooms are high-ceilinged, spacious and bright, while they have a small balcony with a view of the narrow streets and the Mitropoleos Square. The things that make it special are the vintage wooden furniture and the overall decoration of the place that give off a Venetia scent, taken out of an aristocratic era. Cleanliness in the rooms could be better, while the amenities that you will find are a fridge (with free bottles of water), a kettle, a coffee maker, air conditioning, blow-dryer (upon demand), TV and wifi. The disadvantages include the noise that comes from the street and the impractical bathroom with the very limited shower space.

Its greatest advantages are the very good quality-price ratio and its location, and in the disadvantages, apart from the noise, are added the lack of an elevator and parking lot and the irregular change of sheets (only on demand).

For three nights we paid the amount of 228€, in super high season. Breakfast is NOT included in the price. It is a very affordable and good, in terms of quality, solution, and it is probably the best choice for accommodation in the old town. Good Choice (G)
