Mesohori: Kato Pedina

Vaggelio’s traditional coffeeshop is located in Kato Soudena, as the locals love to call Kato Pedina. Its interior space is plain, with traditional tables, while the fireplace smolders during most of the year’s months. The hostess, apart from a warm welcome, also offers coffee, tsipouro and various local delicacies, from pies to bean soup (depending on the goods that she has available). Prices are extremely low, but choices are also limited. Finally, you should keep in mind that in the village time has stopped, while stress is an unknown concept. That’s why, not only will you head out full, but also renewed. Highly Recommended (H)

Taste routes from Aris: Papigo

Aris’ restaurant is some kind of a “multi-space” in the area, as aside from food, it also offers coffee and drinks. The store has a charmingly decorated interior space, as well as a wide variety of drinks. So, under the watchful eye of Astraka’s towers, you can enjoy a few moments of peace. Do not ignore Aris’ cocktails, because you will probably not find anything like them on your trip. Recommended (R)

Important Note: Zagorochoria is a peaceful location and it will be really hard to find a similar place to pass the night!

Bimtsa: Papigo

If you are craving for some traditional coffee on ember, then you should totally pass by Papigo. At a central spot, just above the church of Agios Vlassis, mrs. Aspasia will welcome you to the traditional Bimtsa sweetshop. The store is small but it exudes a homely atmosphere, making every visitor feel comfortable right from the start. Aside from coffee, you will also find spoon sweets, home-made jams, liqueurs, as well as tin-baked sweets. If the weather is cold, grab a seat by the fireplace; if it is hot, the shop’s small outdoor space is to be preferred. No matter where you choose to sit, one thing is certain…even the most demanding sweet tooth will be satisfied! Recommended (Ρ)

Note: During the summer months, the shop’s operating hours are limited (so there is a chance you won’t find it open)..

Cafe-Tsipouro “Orivatis”: Monodendri

This café/ tsipouro-shop/ convenience store is located in the village square. It is a great place to rest after your walk to the monastery of Agia Paraskevi, while drinking some coffee or tsipouro. Prices are very good and the appetizers are sufficient, filling the void before lunch time. The environment resembles more a friendly home with a cozy attitude, rather than a coffee shop. In the shop you can also find groceries, various spoon sweets, as well as liqueurs from the local cuisine. If you are in the mood for charming local stories by the fire, then it’s worth devoting some time!
