Food

Paris has always been a gourmet destination. The multifaceted French cuisine is pretty interesting, with fine, tasty options that can satisfy both meat eaters and vegetarians. Inside the city you will find thousands of restaurants/brasseries, with prices at 25-40€/person without wine & 40-70€/person with wine. In most of them, quality is quite fine, while service is average. For anyone looking for inexpensive food, you should know that the city offers lots of choices for something fast, cheap and decent. Don’t miss the chance to try some mille-feuille, duck dishes, French fries, soufflés, tarts (salty and sweet), cheese fondues, rooster (with wine, noodles or mushrooms), crepes, croissants and the ratatouille dish (vegetarian). With that many choices, one thing is certain…you won’t leave this city hungry!

Angelina

No introduction is necessary for Angelina chocolaterie! It is the most famous shop in town! You may have to spend a little more, but you get the most delicious, fresh and rich desserts in return! At the central store, located in Rue de Rivoli, people stand in line every day to taste their delicious desserts. It would be a real shame to miss the chance to taste some of Angelina’s divine desserts while visiting Paris. Highly Recommended (H)

A small, dark and quiet restaurant in the heart of Montmartre that abides by the taste and quality of the French cuisine, Chez Toinette offers a satisfying variety of tasty and highly priced meals. The staff is really polite, but the service was a little slow, which is its only flaw. Make sure you have made a reservation, if you choose to give this restaurant a go. Recommended (R)

Quiche Lorraine can be found anywhere in Paris, from the smallest brasserie to the most classy restaurants! It is a salty tart with eggs combined with whatever you can imagine, like vegetables, a variety of cheeses, cured meat products and so on! Délicieux! We present you with the ones we tried…

Snails & Home-made Sandwiches

The French are famous for their love of snails and the extraordinary style in which they cook and serve them! We tried this delicacy, served with butter and basil cream, at the Montmartre wine festival, and they were exquisite! The snails cost 6€, which is a bit much for street food.

Last but not least, home-made sandwiches are always a great and inexpensive choice. The steps are easy and simple; you get 3 French baguettes from your closest bakery (about 1€ each, with which you can make two sandwiches) and you can get some cheese, some smoked salmon, a few tomatoes, 1 jar of mayonnaise and a pack of smoked turkey from a supermarket. And just like that, you can make 6 huge sandwiches that get you through 1.5 days for just 15€!

Rong Fa Sushi

While walking through a paved street in Paris’ 15th district on a Monday afternoon, we came across this restaurant hoping to have a decent lunch, as most other restaurants were closed. But our expectations fell short; this sushi restaurant served pre-cooked and reheated food, which, as you can imagine, was below mediocre in both taste and quality. The only upside was that we could order our meal in portions of as many kilograms as we wanted, so you have the chance to try lots of different dishes. Pass (P)

We recommend you to try: The chicken bits with caramel honey sauce (the only decent one)

Our order: 400gr of chopped pork with pineapple, 250gr of chicken bits with caramel honey sauce, 250gr of beef with spicy caramel sauce & 5 vegetable spring-rolls. Total cost: 23€

Extra: Macaron & Ice-cream

Macaron
Macarons are a distinctive French delicacy, something like fluffy, cream-filled syrupy biscuits that come in all sorts of flavors, like chocolate, pistachio, strawberry, champagne, coffee and lemon, to name a few! They are a little overpriced, as they can go for 1€ to 2.5€ a piece. You can buy some pieces separately, but also as a package. Recommended (R)

We recommend you to try: Macarons in every flavor

Our order:
a)In Maison Georges Larnicol chocolaterie for 2.5€/piece.
Total score: 8.6
b) We tried La Petite Chocolatière’s macarons, which cost 1.2€/piece (6 macarons for 6€).
Total score: 8.2

Ice-cream
Enter one of the 50 Jeff De Burges stores that you are bound to come across in Paris! There may be lots of stores where you can have some ice-cream, but in these you are certainly going to love it! Portions may be small but the taste is heavenly. Recommended (R)
