Indeed, mint tea in Morocco is a form of entertainment as well as part of the culture of the people. You will find mint tea everywhere; from the smallest shop of Icht to the fanciest shop in Marrakech! The nobles’ concoction is unlike anything you have tried up until now. You can drink it in any season (even when it is hot) and it is served with fresh or dry mint. It is served at breakfast, it is the ideal beverage for any time of the day and accompanies all meals. It is not a coincidence that 90% of customers in a café, restaurant or Riad prefer to drink mint tea. Mini tip: Fresh mint gives tea a velvet, aromatic texture (go for it).

The favorite hangout in the new city of Marrakech is none other than Vert Midi! The restaurant may not offer alcohol, but it has the best and freshest juices in town. Every day dozens of young people gather with their friends to grab a quick bite, drink their coffee or juice and have a good time. Vert Midi has a large indoor space with many TV screens, as well as a wonderful outdoor space for smokers.

On the top floor of the Comptoir darna multi-space you have the chance to escape the trivial. Over there alcohol is abundant, while loud music, parties and entertainment do not reflect at all Morocco’s conservative lifestyle. While you are enjoying yourselves, you can smoke a hookah and try a few of its special cocktails. Keep in mind that alcohol in Morocco is a luxury product, so be prepared to put your hand deep into your pocket.

Bigua Cafe & Restaurant is the ideal café to drink your tea in quiet, after the endless walks in the Souks of Marrakech. It is outside the tourist trails, away from the buzzing Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. The wonderful view of the Koutoubia Mosque and the quite wide variety of coffees and side dishes raise it high in preference. The staff is attentive, with prices being slightly high.

Cafe Maure is the must-visit point for everyone wanting to enjoy Rabat, the castle and the Atlantic Ocean. It is located inside the castle and, despite being a café, it does not offer any other option apart from tea (and a few small snacks)! But the reason for visiting it is its view that can make your mind travel, with the sweet breeze being a permanent ally against the heat! Prices are high and service…is always on the run.
